For the Halo Re-Design Sherburne developed a warmer aesthetic that could serve the needs of Halos expanding demographic and invite both the casual and more formal customer to stay longer and feel more at home. The desire was to maintain the current overall layout, which included a relocated bar, and incorporate the geometric shapes and backlit plexi-glass features employed throughout the space. Looking to create an anachronistic environment that referenced the past while also being futuristic Sherburne looked to the film Blade Runner and its synthesis of a futuristic technopolis with art deco styling. To achieve this a number of aesthetic avenues are juxtaposed to provide a unique environmental experience that maintains a ambiance of comfort at the same time. A number of features were also added to the existing environment including a back bar that curved to meet the ceiling, stand-up tables with matching overhead lighting structures and stools constructed of walnut veneer over bent plywood. Wood grained laminate is mixed with real wood to increase the warmth of the environment and to offset the glowing plexi through-out the room. Also included in the design was a number of playful vintage lights and a wall mural of a forest scene serve to increase the eclecticism of the interior and provide an air of familiarity. The room has been met with overwhelming success.
