This assignment asks the students to consider the semiotics and meanings behind objects and then to reinvent or manipulate those meanings. The scope of the reinvention is left to the student and can range from a social commentary to a playful twists in meaning. Ultimately the goal of the assignment is for the student to scrutinize and research how meanings are associated to products and how those meanings are addressed by professional designers.
